Hi!

It's been a while since i updated this blog now. I honestly have to say I'm not very good at this blog thing, but I'm very good at updating my stories on Intagram so deffenetly check out my highlights under the accounts @abcostumes and @ab.costumes as both of these accounts will have better updates than I've been able to give you here.

The last time i updated you i was woking on my embroidery appliques and my bodice.

The appliques are now all embroiderd out and ready to be sewn to the skirt. I had quit a lot of trouble with the appliques through the project. I ended up making the appliques with thread i only had 500m of and ended up having to order another colour. The colour i orderd then was way to yellow for what i liked and did not fit very well with my costumes.

As you can see here the top applique is very yellow compared to the bottom sample. I ended up having to order a thread chart form Madeira thread to get the right colour and then order a new cone of embroidery thread. So for the future i would just get a thread chart at the begining so i dont have to go through the colour mess again.

One side of appliques is also sewn on to the skirt and I'm so exited about how it look!

The costume is also all done, except for the decoration! It feels really good to be on top of what I need to do, even though my workbook need some more content before hand in. All the costruction parts of the costume are done, its just lacking the decoration. I've done a last fitting for my costume and it fits! The bodice is pulling a bit at the back with the hook and bar tape, but I'm going to stabstitch through the fabrics at the CB to make sure it don't pull.

I'm extremly happy with how this look so far and i can't wait to decorate it!

I'm going to start on the corset flossing this week as the bones i mentioned in my last blog post needs to be secured and covered better. On wednesday I'm also etting directions by Wayne my tutor on how to make the traditional kokoshnik, with a twist.

The last week I've sewn the collar onto the bodice, sewn in more boning channels on all the seams, drafted the finished pattern for the sleeves and costructed them and bound the armholes.

I'm no big fan of sleeves as I find them hard to put in to be honest. This sleeve on the other hand was so much fun to make, the shape and the layover of the slit was a fun challange to tackle!

Sleeve mock-up made in callico.

The collar was a fun challange to do! I ended up cutting out a big rectangle and then sewing it on and facing it off before gathering the front down and the back. I did attatch the top of the collar under to the shoulder to give it even more "poof". I'm not to happy about that so iI'm going to continue experimenting with the shape of it before hand in!

I'll see you soon!
