A few weeks have passed since I updated you so it's about time for a tiny update.
The petticoat is now 100% done after I attached the ruffles and the hook and bar on the waistband. The underskirt also has a hook and bar on the waistband.
The last week I've worked on the bodice, cutting out the fabric and constructing it. I took a design decision and added gold embroidery to the front panel for more decoration as I felt it was a bit plain alone. I'm waiting for a twisted cord piping tape to arrive so I can finish the bottom hem on the bodice. I'm going to use the same cord to separate the panel with the appliques and the skirt. The latest thing I did for my bodice was draping the collar. I've cut it out in top fabric but as long as I'm working on the embroidery I'm unable to do much else than researching as the sewing machine is in use.
I have a combined sewing and embroidery machine, Pfaff creative 3.0. And since I want to get better at machine embroidery it was perfect to incorporate embroidery into my design for this project. All the designs except for the bodice front panel is designed and digitized by me using the embroidery program Hatch embroidery by Wilcom. I'm enjoying using the tiny knowledge I have about machine embroidery on this project.
I've done one big embroidery commission before this and also had a logo embroidery commission last week. Other than that I'm still learning how to fully utilise my machine.
For this week I'm going to focus on getting all the appliques done so I can finish the skirt. If my calculations are right I'm going to end up doing 100 000 - 200 000 stitches in total for the 10 appliques on the skirt.
Bodice embroider. From sample to finished embroidery.

Skirt applique layout. Two small ones, two medium and one big on each side of the skirt. There is going to be a layer of cream taffeta behind the appliques.
I'm seeing and end to this project very soon and I'm hoping to have the gown done by the end of next week so i can focus on decoration and the Kokoshnik the last weeks before hand in.
