The Wild Duck

I did the costume design and costume sourcing for The Wild Duck back in 2017 when I went to college in Norway studying Drama at St. Hallvard Vgs in Lier.

Each of the actors got to choose an animal that fitted the character they were portraying. The costumes were then planed and design after the animals to give them characteristics from the animals, but still make them as human-looking as possible.

We chose to use colours and different silhouettes to represent each animal. W played a lot with colours and ended up dying one of the suits we already had in the costume store orange to match one of the characters which were a fox. We also painted a suit jacket with blues and silvers to match one of the characters animals a peacock.

We mostly focused on the colours to match the animals and didn't play with colour theory too much. Silhouette and flow in the garment were more important so it could fit the character's personality.
